The Johnson County, Arkansas Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES) group is open to all licensed Amateur Radio operators. You do not have to be an ARRL member to join. While Johnson County ARES is a non-governmental group, we do work closely with the Johnson County Auxiliary Communications (AUXCOMM) group that is part of the Johnson County Department of Emergency Management and most Johnson County ARES members are also Johnson County AUXCOMM members. We have a weekly training radio net every Thursday at 6:30 pm on the K5OO 147.045 (no tone) repeater located north of Clarksville, AR. All licensed Amateur Radio operators are invited to check-in. Johnson County ARES has a monthly in-person meeting on the second Monday of every month at 5:30pm. We normally meet at the Johnson County Dept of Emergency Management EOC Conference Room in the basement of the Johnson County Courthouse but may occasionally meet at other locations.
